For over two decades, mural artist Maria Trimbell has collaborated with celebrated designers and creative clients throughout California, nationally, and internationally, hand painting evocative decorative interiors with a timeless, poetic spirit.

Always sensitive to quality and resonance, Maria's lyrical, layered brushstrokes harmoniously blend classic European elegance with the aliveness of nature for serene, emotional, immersive atmospheres. Custom hand-made decorative finishes utilizing traditional and modern materials ensure each project is truly unique.

Based on California's Central Coast between LA and San Francisco, Maria and her husband (a Master printer) are now creating an inspired line of murals on canvas which they fine-art print bespoke in-house to beautifully retain the feeling and depth of the hand-painted originals.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
A love of nature, art and architecture (and an encounter with a Titian painting in a book) captured decorative artist Maria Trimbell's creative imagination from an early age.  Born and raised in California to a family that revered wild spaces and encouraged her artistic gifts, Maria spent her youth imaginatively drawing, exploring the forest, and honing her art skills through private lessons.
An influential summer "grand tour" of Europe in a VW van with her family at seventeen included a visit to the Louvre that brought Maria closer to the paintings that touched her from childhood, and further fueled her passion for art.
After earning a BFA (summa cum laude), Maria felt a yearning to work with her hands outside the traditional studio context, while she continued to be drawn to Europe, absorbing the art and ambience from Palladian Villas to the Alhambra. Working several years as art director for a high end Southern California decorative painting company gave her practical technical experience, after which she felt ready to specialize in the more artistic aspects of the trade and started her own business, fortuitously earning a dream commission in Venice, Italy – to paint a whole room scenic mural in a building where Titian himself once lived and worked. From that moment, Maria's career found a fertile path.
With frequent commissions from renowned designers and creative homeowners in the U.S. and abroad, and now creating her own line of original, bespoke printed mural wallcoverings, Maria continues to be informed and inspired by her travels – with an innate drive to create distinctive work, broaden her scope, and always welcome serendipity.
